BCA’s Preschool Reopening Procedures

 In News

The following are BCA preschool procedures to reopen based on the guidelines by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) and the Department of Human Services (DHS) for early childhood facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, as of July 9, 2020. They will be put in place until DHS along with the guidance of the ADH recommends their removal.

  1. Group Size:
    1. In the classrooms the teachers will make every effort to space the children out to provide safe physical distancing. The children in the classroom will be divided into 2 smaller groups each working in different areas of the room. For example: a room of 12 children will be split into 2 groups of 6. While one group is at the tables doing an activity the other group will play in the learning centers in another area.
    2. Recess times will be staggered to ensure that only one age group is out at one time. The playground will be divided and each class will stay on separate sides.
    3. Lunch will be eaten in the classrooms not combined in the lunchroom.
    4. Any large group activities will be postponed until the restrictions are lifted.
  2. Drop off:
    1. 7:30am-8:30am drop off will be done curbside on the east side of the building under the covered drive.
    2. If you drop off after 8:30am you must call the office. Families will enter through the BCA door waiting in the breeze way until a BCA staff member can complete a health screening.
    3. No person is allowed further entry into the school without a screening and if they have a temperature of 100.4°F or above.
    4. Parents or adults dropping off will answer health screening questions using the Brightwheel app during child check in. A BCA staff member will complete a temperature check before the child is allowed entry to the school and the adult dropping them off is allowed to leave.
    5. BCA staff will take the child to their class. Any exceptions to this will need to be cleared with the preschool director and will still need to follow the screening procedures.
  3. Pick up:
    1. 2:45pm-3:30pm pick up will be done curbside on the east side of the building under the covered drive.
    2. Each age group will be assigned a time for pick up. Specific instructions and times will be shared with you closer to the start of the school year.
    3. If you are picking up before or after your child’s assigned time you must call the office.
  4. After School Pick up:
    1. If picking up 3:00pm – 4:00pm you must call the office. You must wait outside or in the breeze way until a BCA Staff member brings your child to you.
    2. If picking up your child 4:00pm – 6:00pm you send a message through Brightwheel letting the staff know that you have arrived. Waiting outside or in the breeze way until the BCA staff member brings your child to you.
  5. Face Coverings:
    1. Staff will wear face coverings. They may take breaks from wearing the face covering while outside and at other times they can safely physically distance themselves, unless there is a need to get in a child’s personal space to provide intervention or care.
    2. Students are not required to wear face masks.
  6. Handwashing:
    1. Handwashing will continue on a frequent and as needed basis including the following times:
    2. Upon entry to the school/classroom
    3. Before and after any meal
    4. Before and after recess or other outside times
    5. After using the restroom
    6. After coughing, sneezing, or contact with other bodily fluids
    7. Touching a surface that has not been sanitized
  7. Sick Child:
    1. Sick children shall not be cared for at the facility.
    2. If a child becomes sick while at the facility, the parents shall immediately be contacted to pick the child up.
    3. The child shall be separated, with appropriate supervision, until the parents arrive to pick the child up.
