March-April 2019 Newsletter
Looking back at March, Bentonville Christian Academy packed in loads of activities even with a snow day and spring break keeping us away from the campus for a few days. One of the highlights was our spring performance of “O Chicken of Little Faith”. I have had the opportunity to discuss with many family and friends of the school about the play, and the response to the performance and message is overwhelmingly positive. It seems impossible to me that you could have walked away without a smile on your face. When you peel back the chicken puns and feathers, the root of the story that was told is how we can count on God to be with us always. As a parent and an educator, I think this is one of the most important values and lessons that we can bestow on our children.
Scripture study and Bible verse memory are a part of the curriculum at each age level at BCA. We work to connect God’s word with real-world applications for our students. Our foundation verse this school year is Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Bravery is something that we should not only desire for our children, but also help cultivate within them. At BCA, we take time to share with each other situations where we can be brave, whether it is making a new friend, leading a prayer, trying something new, or standing up for what is right. Even through the small opportunities that children have throughout their days to grow in strength and courage, we acknowledge those. These moments are building blocks for future challenges students will face. We pray that they will always be brave and know that God is with them!
