Our Admissions Process for K – 9th Grade is designed to ensure that Bentonville Christian Academy and that child are of a mutually beneficial fit. The K – 9th Grade admissions process is a bit more in-depth compared to our younger children because in many cases, an academic record has already begun for the school-age children.
Getting Started
The admission process starts with a campus tour and family interview. Students must be 5-years-old by August 1 to enter Kindergarten. For children who have already been in school, previous school records and teacher recommendations are required prior to the admission of new elementary students. Prior grades, achievement test scores, conduct reports, and attendance records will be taken under consideration for admission.
Parents of new students should report special needs to the Head of School and provide our staff with the results of any previous developmental/educational assessments. Upon receipt of admission materials, an assessment and shadow day of the prospective student will be arranged.
Assessments
After completing and submitting the application, an assessment/shadow days will be scheduled. Applicants will join their peers in their current grade and participate in assessments. Admission to BCA is based primarily on individual developmental readiness, therefore the assessments are a vital part of our admission process and final decision. General results from these assessments will be shared with parents/guardians along with the decision of admission. However, copies of the official assessment will remain in the applicant’s confidential application file.
Admission
Each student’s application and records will be reviewed, and the Admissions Committee will make a determination on each student. Students who qualify for admission are assigned to a wait pool until an opening becomes available.
When a position opens within a grade, the opening will be filled with a student from the wait pool as determined by the Admission Committee using the same criteria in the initial selections. If a candidate is not accepted, it is sincerely believed that Bentonville Christian Academy is not the appropriate school for the student.
